Merry Christmas! 2015 has been a year of Celebrations and Losses January – The year began with Joshua receiving a Certificate of Admission to California State University that he accepted and declared his major as Computer Science. February – Attended the wedding of nephew Dillon and bride Jussel. It was a joyous occasion spent with the Davis side of the family. Don and Mary attended a Crab Feed fundraiser where they ran into a couple of friends. March – Got tickets to a King’s vs. Trail Blazers. The Trail Blazers won 110-99. It was the last time that Lamarcus Aldridge played against the kings as a member of the Trail Blazers. Met up with family friends at a Food Truck event in the park. April – Joshua and Don got out for a little racing stuff... there was the World of Outlaws and a night of kart'n with friends. May – We sadly lost a beloved member of the family, Uncle Buck. This was a very somber occasion because Uncle Buck was the one that was always there with something good to say. When you got off the phone with him you always seemed to be in a happier mood. June – Joshua graduated El Camino High School, and we celebrated with family. Took a day trip to see a bench dedicated to the memory of Mr. Fisher - Joshua’s grade school teacher. July – Grandpa Davis was admitted to the hospital and the diagnosis of cancer was made. We got to visit with him, spend time, chat, laugh, and cry. Dad still had the will and fight to live, and therapy was ordered to rebuild his strength. August – Grandpa Davis had the spirit and will, just not the body. Dad left us August 5th: In Loving Memory / Cemetery. Dad is so missed. We managed to get away for a couple days to a favorite place of ours, Trinidad CA. We also had a couple Birthdays to celebrate – Joshua, Trevor, and Shawna. September – Joshua started college as a Sac State Freshman – Go Hornets! This was a big adjustment for Joshua since it was a huge step up from high school. It took him awhile to get adjusted to it as he will probably tell you but once he settled down he was able to find his groove. October – Grandpa Perez turned 98. Halloween was spent with our close neighbors for a pot luck and to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. Mary made some amazing chili to add to the other great dishes that were shared. There were NO leftovers. We set a new record for trick-or-treaters, so many we lost count. And, we finished the Great Wall of Don - Part III. November – Kitchen faucet sprung a leak and flooded kitchen. Thankfully it turned out not to be as bad as it sounds, but the faucet did have to be replaced. Thanksgiving was a more joyous occasion that was spent with family. We also made yet another brined and barbecued-smoked turkey that was delicious. December – Joshua finished his first semester of college making it through finals, and it is looking like he did rather well. So proud. Things seem to be winding down as we await Christmas morning, so from our family to yours Merry Christmas & Happy Holliday’s. - Don, Mary, Joshua, and Sargent. |
