Merry Christmas! 2016 has been a good year. Mary retired and is enjoying the extra time cooking, Joshua is now a sophomore at CSUS, and Don turned 50. Here is a look back at the year. January – Started out the year with a trip to Southern California to help settle Grandpa Davis’s estate. While there we visit with family and took in some sites along the way. March – Took a trip to Sierra City for Josh’s Spring Break. It felt like a big snow day. April – Don and Josh worked on the house's electric panel. They ended up having to call an electrician. It took them a few days to add a subpanel. Later on in the middle of April Don treated the family to tickets to see the a cappella group Home Free. June – Don joined some friends for a ride on a Beer Train enjoying the specialty brews, live music, and scenery. Later in June some of Josh’s cousins had a celebration since they graduated from Middle School. July – Towards the end of June and the beginning of July Don took the family on another great Montana trip. This time Mary came with them. She really enjoyed the trip. There was so many great things to see and do that we kept pretty busy. Mary spent a wonderful day enjoying lunch with her other retirees at Debbie’s ranch. Summer – Josh and Don worked on the front yard and made some great progress. Josh put the majority of the sprinkler system together. The two of them did a lot of digging in the yard and ended up doing a lot of planting as well. When they tried planting a tree they ran into a rather large stump. It took them a few days to dig it up. It took a lot of digging and pushing and pulling to dig it out. August – Don took the family back to Sierra City. This time we took more time to go and see a lot of their favorite sites. Josh and Don went and enjoyed a day fishing on Sardine Lake. They did not end up catching anything at the lake. Don ended up catching a fish on the Yuba River. October – We lost Grandpa Perez. He was 98 years old and had a long and fulfilling life. He will be missed December – Josh finished his third semester of college making it through finals, and it is looking like he again did rather well. Don treated the family to a Kings game where they played the Portland Trail Blazers. The Kings ended up beating the Trail Blazers and Demarcus Cousins ended up scoring 55 points. Things seem to be winding down as we await Christmas morning, so from our family to yours Happy Holliday’s. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. - Don, Mary, Joshua, and Sargent. |
