Merry Christmas! 2017, a year in review... January – We got the year started off with a little car trouble. The battery made a mess of the cable connector that eroded the connector and cable. It was hard to believe that there wasn’t a replacement part made for our car, so Don rebuilt it. February – Around the greater Sacramento area, we checked out the high flowing rivers from the record rainfall California received last winter. For Don & Mary’s 24th Anniversary - We picked out some filet mignon and lobster tails, added sautéed mushrooms and béarnaise sauce, vegetables, bread, and a nice wine. Delicious! March – Don and Josh attended a Sprint Car race with a friend where they got to watch NASCAR driver Kyle Larson drive the #57 car (not the #2 car). This year we pretty much finished our front yard project that kept us pretty busy into May. May – Mary has been enjoying going out with her retired (and semi-retired) friends. The group has grown to where they have to reserve a few tables when they get together. June – We have talked about wanting to do, gonna do, doing a remodel of our Kitchen for years… So this was the year. Sometime in February we started seriously shopping for cabinets, counters, lights, appliances, and flooring. In June we got to saw, sledgehammer, scrape, and tear out the old kitchen and flooring. The construction company then came put in our new kitchen and flooring taking just over 3 weeks. One of the big items for us was to bring in a gas line so that we could have a gas range and oven. Love’n it! July – This summer Josh applied for a number of jobs, got a few calls for interviews with some State offices, and was offered a Student Assistant position with the Department of Justice. The Student Assistant job gives him job experience (of course), and flexible hours around his school schedule. Josh is doing great with the balancing of school, work, and play. Josh also had to have his wisdom teeth removed (ouch!). The extraction and recover went well. Got a picture of his swollen jaw (too funny, huh?) October – Don was invited to a 49er game and had a fun time (even if they lost to the Rams). This Basketball season instead of attending one game at the Golden One Center, we are signed up to attend a few more a little higher up in the arena. We’ll have to see if we enjoy attending more games higher up as opposed to one at floor level. Then, two Weddings in one day. We got to attend the wedding of Marci and Jaime on a garden terrace in Downtown Sacramento. Then to see Betty and David at their reception (we weren’t successful in getting very good pictures there). November – Too much wonderful food has been enjoyed throughout the year, and our Thanksgiving center piece was another successful BBQ/Smoked Turkey paired with a top shelf spiral cut glazed ham. (5 pound weight gain here). December – Christmas will again find us here at home. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. - Don, Mary, Joshua, and Sargent. |
